And here's the Elephant Block!

I've added a border using Essex Homesoun which adds a bit of texture to the block. This one will eventually become a cushion, but I can imagine an entire quilt using the block and it would be perfect for scraps!

All it needs is a bit of quilting... But what pattern? Will I dare to use free motion quilting or should I guve ruler quilting a try? I'm still indecisive... Any thoughts from you guys?

Fabrics are @cottonandsteel, @robertkaufman and @rubystarsociety, all bought at @dasmachichnachts.

The next episode...

The centre of my block (see previous post) needed a border. I've sewn a bunch of hourglass blocks using various fabric combinations: some are fabrics from the same collection, others are blenders that go well with the collection.

It was quite colourful on my sewing table 🥰!

About a year ago (!) at h+h in Cologne, I convinced Barbara @dasmachichnachts to order a few prints from Savanna. A beautiful fabric collection by @carysmula for @cottonandsteel. We picked a few prints from the collection on the premise that I would make something with them.

I ordered the fabrics as soon as they arrived and I did make something... It didn't take a year to happen 😂! I decided to create a quilt block that highlights the central print of the collection: Happy Elephants!

And here's the finished hat! 🎉

I used my own Simple Rib Hat pattern (available for free on my website) and reduced the number of stitches for the smaller head.

I improvised on the decreases of the crown as I wanted to try something different. The result is okay, but there's room for improvement. I aimed for something else 😂! Luckily, there weren't any complaints from the one wearing it!

He's very keen on hats at the moment and very pleased that he can put the on himself 🤗!

Sometimes there's a rare moment of knitting during daytime with the little one around. And it can only be mindless knitting!

Most knitting is done at night when small people are asleep 🤔!

And the it was a silent January again! It seems to be one a habit 😊... Let's say that I like a slow start of the year.

Before I show you what happened with the renaming yarn of the #arijacke, I thought I'd show you the finished piece itself. Okay, almost finished in this picture... Just imagine it with all buttons attached 😂! This photo was actually taken on Christmas day... 2023!

So, yes, the little cardigan was finished a year ago. And it has been worn a lot, mainly in the summer instead of a jacket. And it still fits, though it gets a little tight now. Time for a new and bigger one!

The traditional last post of my year... The #topni

The traditional last post of my year... The #topnine of 2024.

It was an exhausting year, the main reason for that being the little person whose feet (in beautiful socks by @ingrid68) received the largest number of likes this year. Love him a lot though 💙!

There hasn't been as much time for crafting as I would have liked (or needed for well-being), but I am very happy with the projects featured here. The Apex Carry by @incompletestitches is in use almost daily and the #knitted Travel Mode blanket by @sosuknits has a permanent spot on the cot.

The placemats are a lovely reminder of the monthly project I made in March for the @naehgang which I'm very grateful for.

And fluffy old Bono is featured as well, guarding a cardigan for the little one that has been finished long ago and worn a lot.

I'm not one for New Year's resolutions, but I do wish for a little more me-time and a better balance between being mum and me.

I want to share one last finished handmade thing with you while it's still appropriate... A folded-star fabric Christmas ornament ✨!

I saw them appear around here last year and was kindly reminded (read: influenced) by @raeuberwolke of my plans for making one.

Here's number one, made using the free tutorial by @suzyquilts with @rubystarsociety Speckled fabrics from stash. There will be more (at some point) because making them is fun and can be done on the sofa 🤗!
