I am so sorry for being so quiet… and for not announcing the winner of the book giveaway earlier. Time seems to fly and we are heading towards that time of year really fast! Yes, it’s getting Christmassy!
But first, let me explain why I was so quiet… Last week my sister-in-law gave birth to twins! Yeah! We became uncle and aunt of a little boy and girl! My husband’s family lives in the south of Germany (I wrote about visiting them here and here). That means that going over to see the babies is not a matter of just an afternoon.
We left on Sunday and heavy snowfall on our way slowed us down a few hours. It did give me some extra car crochet time… the two babies need little blankets. This one here will be for the little boy.
Snow has a very positive effect on my mood. I am aware that a lot of people don’t like snow… It’s cold, wet and, yes, it does get ugly too when the melting process starts. But for some reason snowflakes simply brighten up my day! You can imagine that I was kind of enjoying our journey (luckily my husband is a very good driver, so I don’t have to worry about safety). The only thing that we missed in the car was some hot chocolate :).
We made a surprise appearance at the hospital late in the afternoon. We spent the entire Monday afternoon with them in the hospital too, cuddling both of them.
In the evening we went to see the Christmas market in the city of Heidelberg. A mug of glühwein (mulled wine) is a must, of course! I love the mug with its heart-shaped handle!
A little more city strolling and Christmas market on Tuesday morning and then we had to go home again!
Christmas Decorations
I have been getting into the whole Christmas thing a bit and I made a Love Bomb ornament. This charity pattern is designed by Jane of Queen Babs (find her here on Instagram) and can be purchased on The Happenstore. Jane is in need of a new wheelchair and the revenues of the pattern sales hopefully enable her to buy one. You can find all information on her Instagram feed.
I have used Drops Karisma for my ornament to make it match the Christmas baubles that I made two years ago. Yesterday I have put up our little tree and some other decorations too.
Don’t you think that knitting and crochet projects need some Christmas decoration too? I at least do! So when I saw the Christmas themed stitch markers and progress keepers made by Sarah of Fripperies and bibelots I could not resist… Last week they landed in my mailbox! So cute!
And the winner is…
Now, let’s get on to announcing the winner of the giveaway.
Thank you so much for all of your kind comments! I would have given each of you a book if that would have been possible… Unfortunately only one of you will receive a copy of Maaike’s new book Natuurlijk Haken.
I have used a random number generator on the Internet to pick the winner… {insert drums here} … The sixth person that posted a comment is the lucky winner… Congratulations dear Simone! I will get in touch with you.
For all others… thanks again for entering the giveaway! There will be another giveaway soon!
